Moved to new hostel; Ugly American drinks

Moved to new hostel; Ugly American drinks

Bogota, Colombia, South America I got up this morning and felt much better than I had yesterday. Must have just been a 24 hour bug or something. They brought us another awesome breakfast, and Melissa went off to work. I chilled at the hotel this morning to enjoy the last morning at this beautiful place. Since I’ve decided to stay in Colombia for almost another week, I had to find a cheaper place to stay, so I found a hostel…

Sick day at Celebrities Suites

Sick day at Celebrities Suites

Bogota, Colombia, South America I woke up this morning and didn’t feel well at all. My stomach was in knots and I was feeling really tired. We had an amazing breakfast brought to us at 7am, and it included fresh fruit, pancakes, an omelette, fresh juice, hot chocolate, and granola with yogurt. It was amazing! Another amazing thing that happened is I called Copa Airlines this morning to see how much it would cost to change my flight, and I…

Day in San Gil, Bus to Bogota

Day in San Gil, Bus to Bogota

Bogota, Colombia, South America Melissa and I got up really early this morning, to make sure we could enjoy as much time as possible in San Gil. We got all of our stuff together and left it in the hostel at about 7:15am. We went around the corner to the central market and found a little place to have breakfast. I had scrambled eggs and a fresh strawberry juice, and Melissa had an arepa with orange juice. Both meals were…

Christmas in Colombia

Christmas in Colombia

Bogota, Colombia, South America Both of my flights went really well last night, no hiccups at all. My first plane from Buenos Aires to Panama City was really nice. Each seat had its own entertainment center with movies and TV shows in different languages (including English). I also had a really nice Venezuelan girl sitting next to me (Francirith), who had been sightseeing around Buenos Aires for the last week. As usual, it’s very nice to chat with other travelers…

Last day in Bogota :(

Last day in Bogota :(

Bogota, Colombia, South America Today was my last day in Bogota. I spent the morning packing up my things and getting ready to head out. I left my bags at the hotel and went to the bus terminal to get my ticket for tonight. I’m taking an 18 hour bus ride from Bogota to Pasto. It’s a little expensive ($116,000 pesos (£40)), but I have a really nice bus with the company Bolivariano. It has wifi, that actually works, and…

Shopping day and dinner with Melissa

Shopping day and dinner with Melissa

Bogota, Colombia, South America I didn’t do too much today. I went up to the nice shopping part of the city to try and find a place I can get my camera serviced. There are some specks of dust that are showing up in the pictures and I can’t seem to get them out by myself. I found an authorized Nikon dealer and they said that for me to get it serviced by them I would have to give up…

Chill day and P.F. Changs

Chill day and P.F. Changs

Bogota, Colombia, South America I had a great night’s sleep at Colombia at Home, so I felt really energized this morning. I went out and did my laundry near the hotel, got some breakfast, and then got a bunch of stuff done back here that I’ve been procrastinating on. Just answering emails and filling out hotel reviews, things like that, but they’re all things I needed to get done and have been putting off. I went up to Melissa’s office…

Arriving back in Bogota

Arriving back in Bogota

Bogota, Colombia, South America That was one of the most uncomfortable night busses I have ever been on. The bus itself was okay, but the winding roads through the mountains made it absolutely impossible to get any sleep. The driver was absolutely flying as well, because what was suppose to be a 7.5 hour ride only took 5.5 hours. I would usually be happy about arriving somewhere early, but to get into Bogota at 4am really didn’t help me at…

Bike ride around Villa de Leyva

Bike ride around Villa de Leyva

Bogota, Colombia, South America I had an awesome day in Villa de Leyva today! I had a great night’s sleep at Hotel El Solar, I got up early and had a good breakfast at a little cafe in town, and then went to the bike shop. I met Francisco, the owner of Ciclo Trips, and luckily he spoke english perfectly. He explained to me the best route for me to take the bike for a route that takes 3-4 hours….

Last day of class

Last day of class

Bogota, Colombia, South America I had my last day of class today, and it was the hardest one by far. We spent most of the class trying to differentiate between que and cual when asking a question. I think/thought they were the same as what and which in english, but it turns out there are all sorts of exceptions which make absolutely no sense to me. I’m just going to have to memorize these rules I guess and practice from…
