Sick day, relaxing day

Sick day, relaxing day

Havana, Cuba, North America Today wasn’t a great day for me. I woke up after a pretty bad night’s sleep because I’ve had a dodgy stomach all night. It must have been something I ate, but I’m not exactly sure what it was. I spent all morning in bed, and was actually pretty happy that I hadn’t been able to book one of those tours after all. It would have been miserable having to get up at 6:30am and feeling…

Scuba Diving day in Havana

Scuba Diving day in Havana

Havana, Cuba, North America I got to go diving today! I got my taxi at 9am and went straight to the Hotel Copacabana which is only about 15 minutes away from where I’m staying. It’s another one of these nice big hotels, but this one is right on the water. I found the dive center and arranged with the dive instructor to go out right after breakfast. I had a great buffet breakfast at the hotel for 8 CUC. It…

Another day exploring in the heat

Another day exploring in the heat

Havana, Cuba, North America Well, it was another sweltering day in Cuba. I spent most of the day walking around the northern part of the city today. I started out at the Plaza de la Revolucion, which is where there are two buildings with huge pieces of art depicting Che Guevara on one, and Fidel Castro on the other. I was pretty happy to see Che Guevara, since this was one of the photos I had to take for my…

First full day exploring Cuba

First full day exploring Cuba

Havana, Cuba, North America I had a pretty bad night’s sleep, due to the ridiculous heat and humidity, but I guess that’s what I should expect when I come to Cuba in the middle of the summer. Not my smartest move. I got up around 8am and tried to find a towel so I could take a shower. I then had to try to find a shower that actually had a door on that room, because the only one I…

I’ve made it to Cuba!

I’ve made it to Cuba!

Havana, Cuba, North America I got a wake up call from the hotel at 4:10am, that I definitely didn’t ask for and was not expecting. I guess it makes sense that they do that for everyone who is on this flight to make sure you don’t miss the rescheduled flight. Good thinking. I had a quick shower and then went downstairs to grab a quick breakfast before getting the bus. It turns out the breakfast they put out for us…

Last week in Colorado…and America!

Last week in Colorado…and America!

Firestone, United States of America, North America I am writing this blog entry from my flight to Melbourne from Los Angeles. This is a 15h 20m flight, so I figured I’d have plenty of time to finish this entry. After coming back from Vegas I spent about a week down at Mom’s house relaxing. We visited the puppy mill rescue again, but unfortunately my favorite dog (Buster Brown) was already gone. I suppose I should be happy that he’s now…

Rain in the Desert…

Rain in the Desert…

Las Vegas, United States of America, North America I am on my way back from Las Vegas, after a somewhat disappointing 5 day trip. We arrived on Saturday morning and the weather was pretty decent. We met up with Mom, Steve, Bill, Bridget and Pat and then we all went our separate ways to check in to our hotels. Pat and I were at Hooters, the parents were all at the Hilton at the Flamingo, and Nikki and Leo were…

First week in Colorado

First week in Colorado

Colorado Springs, United States of America, North America My first week in Colorado was a fairly quiet one, but that was fine by me. After spending four weeks in CT running around trying to see everyone, it was nice to be able to just relax for a bit. Nikki and Leo picked me up from the airport and I spent the first few days up in Firestone, near Boulder. There’s not a lot happening up there, but they’re not too…

Visiting home, friends and family

Visiting home, friends and family

Boston, United States of America, North America So my first month is already over… I started my Round-The-World trip four weeks ago today, and enjoyed a lengthy visit home to New England. It was great being home for Thanksgiving, which I’ve missed GREATLY for the last few years. You really can’t beat a full day of tremendous food, time with the family, and football (American style of course!). The Patriots pulled out a great win against the Detroit Lions on…
