First week in Colorado

First week in Colorado

Colorado Springs, United States of America, North America

My first week in Colorado was a fairly quiet one, but that was fine by me. After spending four weeks in CT running around trying to see everyone, it was nice to be able to just relax for a bit.

Nikki and Leo picked me up from the airport and I spent the first few days up in Firestone, near Boulder. There’s not a lot happening up there, but they’re not too far from Boulder, and civilization is just a few minutes drive, so not to worry. Leo was only working afternoons this week, so at least in the morning I had someone to hang out with. He was also able to get me a few passes for the gym at his YMCA, so that took up some time as well. On Tuesday night Mom came up to Firestone for dinner and brought me down to her house in Colorado Springs.

My mom now has three dogs of her own and often dog-sits for a friend, so the house is constantly busy. We also went down to the Puppy Mill Rescue Center that Mom volunteers at. It was an awesome place to visit. It was strange to see just how scared these dogs are after coming out of the environments they were brought up in. Part of the job there as a volunteer is to take some of the dogs out and socialize them with other people and other dogs. We did our part and brought four dogs out and played with them for a bit, but stopped by to say hi to many more. It felt really good being able to help some of these dogs out, because most of them have never had the opportunity to play with other dogs or people, so it’s great to see them try.

We didn’t do too much more in the Springs, but like I said, it was nice to relax. Mom and Steve headed out to Vegas tonight and Nikki, Leo, and I are going tomorrow morning. Looking forward to this trip! I’ll be able to see another item on my “List”, the Grand Canyon!

This helicopter tour is going to be awesome!!!
