Flying back to Edinburgh

Flying back to Edinburgh

Edinburgh, United Kingdom, Europe I had a good night’s sleep in Sali’s guest room last night, in a nice comfortable bed. Gareth had his air mattress from camping, so he said he was happy enough to sleep on that and I could have the bed. We got up around 7:30am and I got to thank Sali for letting me stay before she went off to work. Sarah, Gareth and I made up some sandwiches and headed off to the airport…

One year trip belongs today!

One year trip belongs today!

Edinburgh, United Kingdom, Europe I’m doing it again! In 2010 I started what I thought was going to be the trip of a lifetime, and so far it has been. I’m not sure if this one can overtake the last one, but I am sure going to give it a run for its money! My journey this time is going to start out in the Middle East, then through Europe, all through South America, and to Antarctica! My friends are…

Edinburgh, United Kingdom, Europe Well today marks the end of my round-the-world trip. It has been one of the most amazing years of my life. Since the last day I worked I’ve seen Morocco, Amsterdam, Italy, Egypt, America, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Macau, China and South Korea….

The Home of Golf

The Home of Golf

St. Andrews, United Kingdom, Europe Today we took a ride up to St Andrews to show Ryan one of the nicest towns in Scotland. The drive up to St Andrews was relaxing and very entertaining for me, as Ryan kept falling asleep and head-bobbing the whole time. It was hilarious. We stopped in for a drink at Ma Bells, then on…

Finding Ryan’s roots

Finding Ryan’s roots

Barr, United Kingdom, Europe Today’s motive was to find McWilliam Farm in Barr, Scotland. This was the farm that Ryan’s Great Grandfather lived on, so we thought we would try to find that. We drove for just over two hours to get to Barr, but were unable to find anything that said “McWilliam Farm” on it, so it’s tough to say if we ever did find his family’s land. Regardless, it was a nice drive and the weather ended up…

Day in the ‘Burgh

Day in the ‘Burgh

Edinburgh, United Kingdom, Europe Ryan and I had awesome weather for his first day in Edinburgh. It was about 75*F (21*C) and sunny all day, so it was probably the best start we could have hoped for. We walked all through Edinburgh stopping frequently at bars to give Ryan a taste of the pub culture of Scotland. We got up the Royal Mile to see Edinburgh Castle, Holyrood Palace, and Holyrood Park. At night we found a bar that was…
