Moved to new hostel; Ugly American drinks
Bogota, Colombia, South America
I got up this morning and felt much better than I had yesterday. Must have just been a 24 hour bug or something. They brought us another awesome breakfast, and Melissa went off to work. I chilled at the hotel this morning to enjoy the last morning at this beautiful place. Since I’ve decided to stay in Colombia for almost another week, I had to find a cheaper place to stay, so I found a hostel that I moved to this afternoon.
I went out to pick up lunch at TGIFridays today, and Melissa and I went back to the room at Celebrities Suites to use the nice dining room for the last time, since my new hostel doesn’t quite have the same amenities. After lunch, Melissa had to go back to work, and I checked out of the hotel at 2pm. Since I am a “Genius” on booking.com, I was given free late checkout, and I made sure to take full advantage of that.
I got to my new hostel, which is only about 15 blocks away, and found that the one thing better here than at the Celebrities Suites is the wifi. It wasn’t working very well at the other hotel at all, and here it is excellent. I got to Skype with my dad for the first time in a couple of weeks, so that was good, and by the time I was done with that, it was time to walk over to Melissa’s office.
I met her when she got out of work at 5:30pm, and we went out for a couple of drinks at a bar near her office. The bar was perfect for me. It was called Ugly American. It was a much nicer bar than I had expected it to be based on the name, and we had a couple of Miller Lights and some chili dip.
Vanessa picked us up from the bar at about 8pm and the two sisters and one of Vanessa’s friends went out to see a Colombian stand-up comedian. They invited me to come out with them, but I figured I wasn’t going to understand anything he was saying or anything he was talking about, so I decided just to come back to the hostel and relax.
