Arriving back in Bogota

Bogota, Colombia, South America

That was one of the most uncomfortable night busses I have ever been on. The bus itself was okay, but the winding roads through the mountains made it absolutely impossible to get any sleep. The driver was absolutely flying as well, because what was suppose to be a 7.5 hour ride only took 5.5 hours. I would usually be happy about arriving somewhere early, but to get into Bogota at 4am really didn’t help me at all. I had to wait at the bus station until about 6:30am until I felt like it was reasonable for me to show up at my hotel (Colombia at Home, again) and ask if I could leave my bags there.

I got a taxi to the hotel and Luz Stella was awake and happy to greet me at the front gate. Not only that, but they let me check into my room at 7am, so I could go in and take a nap! These people are so nice! I crashed for a couple of hours and then went out for a walk up to Melissa’s office. It was so nice to see her again. It’s only been a couple of weeks since we were up at the coast for the wedding, but it felt like longer. We went out for an awesome lunch near her office, and it made me realize just how nice it is to have such a good friend to see while traveling.

Melissa went back to work and I headed back down towards my hotel. I was looking for a few things on the way, but wasn’t successful with anything. I still need a new pair of walking shoes, I could now use a new shirt because I ripped one on barbed wire up at Valle de Cocora, and I need to get my camera cleaned. No luck today, but I’ll have another look tomorrow.
