Second full day in Cusco

Second full day in Cusco

Cusco, Peru, South America I had another fairly quiet day today, but that’s good considering my next four days should be pretty intense. I went to Pan-tastico for breakfast today and had the best breakfast since I’ve been in South America. I had eggs, good crispy bacon (!), pineapple juice, italian bread that was sliced and grilled with peanut butter and jam on the side, and pancakes! It was awesome! I met up with Karin at 10:15am so we could…

Day tour of Cusco

Day tour of Cusco

Cusco, Peru, South America I had a slow start to the day, but it was pretty nice. I got to take a hot shower at my hostel, which I wasn’t too sure was going to be possible. It’s not the nicest hostel, so I wouldn’t have been surprised if it was only cold showers, but I’m really glad it’s not. It’s pretty chilly here in the morning and the evening, so a cold shower would have been miserable. The hostel…

Bus ride and night in Cusco

Bus ride and night in Cusco

Cusco, Peru, South America The bus ride last night was very comfortable, but the ride was so windy and curvy that I was hardly able to get any sleep. Luckily my seat had an electric port so I was able to use my laptop for the whole ride and finished watching season four of the Walking Dead. At least that helped pass the time. We were supposed to arrive in Cusco at 12:30pm, but at that point we were stopped…

Day tour and night bus to Cusco

Day tour and night bus to Cusco

Nasca, Peru, South America There’s not a lot to do here in Nazca, besides flying over the lines, so today was a pretty quiet one. I hung out at the hostel for a bit, went for a walk around the town center (which was very short), and then came back to the hostel to chill. I checked out in the morning, but my night bus wasn’t leaving until 9:30pm, so Jose said I could just hang out in the lounge…

Flight over the Nazca lines

Flight over the Nazca lines

Nasca, Peru, South America I had my flight over the Nazca lines this morning, and it was pretty awesome! It started with an early wake up call, and I was picked up by the tour company at 7am. There were already a bunch of french people in the van, and we went straight to the airport from my hostel. It was only about a ten minute drive to the airport, and there were quite a few people there waiting to…

Bus from Lima to Nazca

Bus from Lima to Nazca

Nasca, Peru, South America I got up at 5am today to get packed up for my bus ride. I got a taxi from the Gran Hotel and made it to the bus terminal for about 6:30am. I grabbed a bite to eat and then got settled into my bus for the next nine hours. It was only meant to be 7.5 hours, but we came across a pretty bad accident on the road to Nazca and that held us up…

Productive day; Met Juan Felipe and Madeleine

Productive day; Met Juan Felipe and Madeleine

Lima, Peru, South America Today was pretty productive, though I didn’t really get to do much in Lima. I finally got to take care of my insurance forms that I needed to fill out, print, sign, and scan. This is all for the stuff that was stolen from me when I was in Banos, Ecuador. Being on the road and staying in hostels, it’s not very easy to find a place that has a printer and scanner, so I ended…

Unproductive day in Lima

Unproductive day in Lima

Lima, Peru, South America I had a very unproductive day today. I was planning on going to the US Embassy to report my US passport as stolen, but that didn’t happen. I got in touch with the embassy to find out what office I had to visit, and they told me that I didn’t even need to come in. I could just report the theft by email. So I sent an email, and then was told that I can’t cancel…

Bus to Lima

Bus to Lima

Lima, Peru, South America I had a nice relaxed morning with a pretty late wake up, which was very nice. I had breakfast at the hostel, got my stuff all packed up and headed out around 10:15am. I got a little moto-taxi for the first time in South America. I knew I wasn’t going too far, so I didn’t mind the bumpy ride compared to a regular taxi. It was also nice that it only cost 2 soles ($0.60) to…

Hiking to Laguna 69

Hiking to Laguna 69

Huaraz, Peru, South America I had an awesome day hiking to Laguna 69! It was a really early start, and about a three hour drive up to the Huascaran National Park. My minibus had 15 people and we were from all over the place, and everyone spoke english, so it was a nice group to travel with. Most people slept on the bus on the way up there, and we made a quick stop at another lake on the way…
