On to Koh Samui!

On to Koh Samui!

Lamai Beach, Thailand, Asia

I got up this morning and enjoyed my last awesome breakfast at the resort. Lynne and I packed up our stuff and got a taxi to the airport and were happy to drive through the rain the whole time. At least we knew we weren’t leaving any sunshine behind on the east coast. The check-in at the airport was dead easy again and I’m really starting to enjoy travelling through these small airports.

The flight was nothing special, just a quick up and down on a little prop plane and we were in Koh Samui in less than an hour. During the flight we could see the weather getting progressively better. We landed and walked out onto the tarmac and were welcomed by some beautiful sunshine. We got our bags and jumped in a minibus with a few other people. About 30 minutes later we showed up at Samui Beach Resort on Lamai beach, and we couldn’t be more impressed!

I found this place on hostelworld.com, but this is definitely not a hostel. It’s a resort with its own pool, restaurant and bar, and it’s right on the beach. For $11 a night per person, we really couldn’t ask for anything more. We dropped our stuff in the room and went straight out to the pool. I found a nice place in the shade and we relaxed for the rest of the night at the resort.

We met a few people out by the pool and had dinner with them at the resort’s restaurant. Addy (England), Dan (Oz), Dan’s wife Francisca (Chile), Lynne and I chilled for the rest of tonight at the bar and had a few jugs of Chang and just enjoyed finally being in the paradise we thought we were going to have for last week. THIS is paradise!
