Lynne’s Here!!!
Bangkok, Thailand, Asia
I didn’t get up to much in Bangkok today, because I was afraid I would see something cool, but then would have to go back to see it again when Lynne got here. I chilled at the hostel for most of the morning and then headed to a local shopping center with my roommate Taylor. We grabbed some lunch while we were out, and then went back to the hostel to chill.
I decided that today would be a good day for the cinema, seeing as I’ve been going through withdrawals for the last month. There was a showing of Captain America on at the Paragon Cineplex at Siam at a perfect time. I went to the mall and had a walk around, and it was one of the nicest malls I’ve ever seen. There were all the high end stores, Louis Vuitton, D&G, Yves St. Laurent, Lambourghini, Maseratti; it was pretty awesome. The cinema was huge too, and unfortunately I only had time to see the showing in 2D, although they had a version playing in 4DX as well. This is apparently a new kind of cinema where you wear 3D glasses, and the seats move and shoot air at you like a ride at Universal Studios. It looks awesome! I’ll try to get in there at some point.
The movie was pretty good, fairly predictable for a superhero movie, but worth watching. The movie finished at about 6:45pm and I headed over to the airport to pick up Lynne. Her flight landed at 7pm and she made it out of customs and immigration by 8pm. I found her no problem and we hopped on the train to get back into the city. It was so nice to see her. We realized that it had been about 9 months since we last saw each other. Seemed like a week.
We got to the hostel and found out that we had the four bed dorm to ourselves for the night, so that’s a bonus. We grabbed dinner down at the hostel restaurant, where I had some very spicy rice and spring rolls. It’s good stuff though. I like the thai food so far. Lynne’s pretty tired from her flights, so we’re going to call it an early night and head into the city tomorrow see some sights. Woohoo!
