In my new apartment :-)
Melbourne, Australia, Australia
I packed up my stuff and left the Crossley Hotel at 10am sharp on Saturday morning. I was off to pick up the keys to the new apartment and I wasn’t going to waste a second! Lisa and I were in the apartment by 11am and I was absolutely thrilled! The rest of Saturday was spent unpacking, doing much-needed loads of laundry, picking up groceries and other necessities, and relaxing in our new pad.
We are up on the 22nd floor of the Eifel Building at the west end of Melbourne, so the view from our balcony is absolutely amazing. We are overlooking the Yarra River from our living room and then west of Melbourne from the balcony and each of our bedrooms. I couldn’t ask for much more for a view. The only thing I don’t like about the apartment is that the windows in the bedroom don’t open at all. I don’t know who designed that, but it is a very poor idea in such a hot climate when there is not central AC. The other really good thing about this building however, is that there is a gym and pool on the 15th floor, so I have been able to use that over the last few days as well.
Sunday was spent watching the two American Football playoff games from my living room. We are lucky enough that one of the freeview channels we get on TV is showing all of the NFL games, so I didn’t have to keep spending loads of money while watching the games in a bar. I’ll be spending the next two weeks at the Australian Open watching tennis though, so I’m sure I’ll be spending enough money there to make up for it!
This morning I woke up at 7:30am to catch the end of the Seattle vs Chicago game, which was a bit of a bore. And then of course I was up for the Jets vs Patriots game at 8:30am. From the minute the Patriots took the field, they didn’t look like the same team that I’ve watched this whole season. They were finding it really hard to get their offence in any kind of rhythm and that ended up costing them the game. For the first time in 9 games we were held under 30 points, and it turns out that 30 points would have won us the game. 28-21 – Our season is finished 🙁
I’ve been a bit too depressed to do much else today, so I went grocery shopping, went to the gym and started watching some of the Aus Open tennis. We’ll be heading along for our first bit of action tonight to see Wickmayer vs Groth (women) and then Granollers vs Djokovic (men). I hope it’s good, I need a bit of a pick-me-up after the Patriots showing this morning!
