Cooking class and cinema

Bangkok, Thailand, Asia

We started today out with another breakfast at our hostel and then started planning what our next steps would be. We realized that tonight is our last night booked in this hostel and we should figure out where we want to go next. We decided that we’re going to go up to Chiang Mai, and then go down to the islands after that, so we needed to book our bus. We waited for the tour woman to show up, and finally at about 2pm she arrived, and got us onto the night bus leaving tomorrow night at 8:30pm.

We found out that our hostel was doing a little Thai cooking class on the deck at 3pm, so we stuck around for that and learned how to cook Tom Yum chicken. I’m not 100% sure what went into it, besides some tom yum paste, onions, chilis, ginger and broth, but Lynne and I did a great job recreating what they showed us. Out of the three groups, ours most closely represented the dish they had presented to us. It was all thanks to me of course!

We headed back to Siam Square after the cooking class to go back to the cinema. There was a 5pm showing of Bad Teacher and we were both keen to catch it, so we figured we might as well finish off this lazy day in style. We went to the Paragon and got a sweet deal for the movie tickets, two drinks and two popcorns for about 500 baht ($16). We got two kinds of popcorn, sweet and cheese. Sweet was awesome. Cheese was not. It wasn’t bad, it was just weird. So weird that Lynne decided to throw half of it on the floor in the cinema. Well done Lynne!

The movie was pretty funny and we headed back to the hostel after it finished to grab dinner in the restaurant. It was another good meal and a good way to finish off our chilled day. Lynne went out for a run in the streets of Bangkok and luckily made it back without being stabbed or harassed. She’s dead serious about staying on this marathon regime. Good for her. I sat in the air conditioned room and watched tv shows.
