Vanessa’s Last Day; Lunch at Air Force Club

Bogota, Colombia, South America

Today was Vanessa’s last day, so we got to spend a little time with the family, which was really nice. The girls had quite a late night, so I went over to the house around 11am, when they had finally gotten up and ready for the day. Melissa, Vanessa and I headed over to the Airforce Club for lunch, and met their half brother Juan Pablo their. His wife’s family had been in the airforce, so we got access to the club, and it was beautiful. We had a really nice lunch with Juan Pablo, his girls Mariana and Violeta, German, JP’s mother in law, and his wife Monica showed up at the end of the meal. It was really nice to see Melissa and Vanessa have some quality time with the girls, and I got to sit and chat with JP, who speaks perfect English.

After lunch Melissa and I came back to the hotel for a quick nap, and then back to the house so we could all head to the airport. German drove Melissa, Vanessa, Luz Mery and me to the airport where Vanessa checked in for her flight and we had more than enough time to get something to eat. We went to Crepes & Waffles and had a nice last meal with Vanessa and then said goodbye.

I’m back at Hotel Egina with Melissa now and I don’t think her parents are too happy about it. I think this is the first time that her dad found out that she is staying with me, and he was less than impressed. This is just one of these cultural differences that I hadn’t thought about, but of course it’s more obvious now that I’m involved in it.
