Long bus day…

Long bus day…

Kota Bharu, Malaysia, Asia Today was a very long day of travelling by bus. Ana and I left the hostel at 10am to catch our bus over to Kuala Terengganu at 10:30am. The bus wasn’t quite as nice as the one I took from Singapore, but it was still pretty decent. Big seats, just not as clean and such a weird “schedule”. We were told that we should get to Kuala Terengganu at about 5pm, which would have been perfect…

Batu Caves and KL Tower

Batu Caves and KL Tower

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Asia I actually woke up this morning at 8am and was well prepared for a full day of sight seeing. And even more amazingly, everyone else was up and ready to go by 10am. Seven of us headed out to the Batu Caves by grabbing a local bus in town. The group was me, Jesse, Ana (Canadian), Louise and Melissa (Holland) and Neils and Natascha (Germany). We got to the caves and had a walk up to…

Hangover day…

Hangover day…

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Asia I woke up incredibly hungover today. I’m not happy about it. It turns out Jesse and I drank a bottle and a bit of whisky last night on our own while we were just chatting with Claire and Deana (English girls staying at the hostel). The four of us were meant to be going to the Batu Caves this morning at 10am, but when the girls knocked on the door, both of us knew there was…

Petronas Towers at night

Petronas Towers at night

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Asia Today has been a pretty relaxed day in KL. Jesse and I went to the largest electronics mall in Malaysia, and it was ridiculous. It was seven stories of nothing but phones, cameras, computers and gadgets. It would have been heaven to me if there weren’t so many people! I don’t know if it’s because it was Sunday afternoon, or if it just always like that, but it was mentally busy. We both found a couple…

From Singapore to KL

From Singapore to KL

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Asia I woke up today and packed up the rest of my stuff and headed off for the bus station. I wasn’t exactly sure how long it was going to take to get there so I headed there with tons of time and got there over an hour early (as usual). There were a few empty seats on the 10am bus so they put me on that one instead of the 11:30am, lucky me! This was probably…

Rainy day in Singapore

Rainy day in Singapore

Singapore, Singapore, Asia Unfortunately, my last day in Singapore has been a rainy one. I woke up this morning and went for breakfast and I saw nothing but beautiful blue skies, but by the time I had finished breakfast and was ready to head out, it was pouring. I only had a couple of things I wanted to do today and it was mostly indoor stuff, so the rain didn’t really bother me too much. I grabbed the train to…

Botanic Gardens and National Museum

Botanic Gardens and National Museum

Singapore, Singapore, Asia Today I got to see the one thing that seems to be in every city in the world, and this one measured up very nicely. I made it to the Botanic Gardens today and walked around for a couple of hours. It was broken up into a lot of different parts, like a bonsai section, orchid section, rainforest, swan lake, etc. It was a beautiful park and meticulously well maintained. It was big enough that I could…

Singapore at night

Singapore at night

Singapore, Singapore, Asia Today started out with breakfast at the resort and then a bit of relaxation at the hostel before heading back into the city for another day of sightseeing. Of course I didn’t forget to call Nikki and wish her a happy birthday. I got the first birthday wish in there, which was easy to do with this time difference. So I hopped on the train at about 1pm and headed into the city. I grabbed a bite…

First full day in Singapore

First full day in Singapore

Singapore, Singapore, Asia Today was my first full day in Asia, and I loved it! Singapore is such a beautiful city, and very easy to get around. I was out of the dorm at about 9:30am and grabbed some breakfast at the little cafe next to the hostel called Old Days Kopitiam. I had a good “American Breakfast” of eggs, toast and a hot dog, brilliant! I left their and hopped on a train at Pasir Ris station and took…

Bye Oz! Hello Asia!!

Bye Oz! Hello Asia!!

Singapore, Singapore, Asia Today has been a very busy day! I woke up and watched the last Sox game I will potentially see this season. As sad as that idea is for me, it was made better by the fact that they won their sixth in a row going into the All-Star break. I had a bit of cleaning to do in the apartment and I finished packing up my stuff. I had to pack my backpacks that I’m taking…
