On top of the Southern Hemisphere!
Melbourne, Australia, Australia
Today I finally got to do something that I’ve been wanting to do since I moved here to Melbourne. I went up to the top of the Eureka Building. The Eureka Skydeck, which is located on the 88th floor of the Eureka Building, is the highest viewing platform in the Southern Hemisphere. This is pretty awesome considering how many big cities are in the Southern Hemisphere.
They really did a great job with this viewing platform as well. The first thing I noticed was that they made the center of the building black, which was a phenomenal idea. I only noticed because in the Sydney Tower, the center of the building was painted white, and when the sun is shining, all you can see in the windows is the reflection of the walls behind you. It was really annoying! But Melbourne figured that out and made is dark so you could actually see out the windows.
Unfortunately, Lisa and I came into the building at the same time as a group of seven million school kids. As most people know, I’m not a big fan of kids, and there were just so many of them that I couldn’t help but get annoyed. They were everywhere, and so loud! It was alright though, I got to see everything I wanted to see and then we got out of there before I harmed anyone.
The tickets also allowed us to go back up at night to get that view as well, so we went back up a couple hours later and checked out the city at night. It’s not the biggest or most impressive city in the world, but it was still a pretty cool view from up there. The only thing that I really want to do in Melbourne now is the river cruise. It is a typical touristy thing to do, but hey, I’m not working, so I guess that makes me a tourist! Hopefully I can get on that tomorrow.
