Last day in Mendoza

Last day in Mendoza

Mendoza, Argentina, South America

I had a nice day in Mendoza today, and then met up with a friend before getting on another bus. I checked out of my hostel at 10:30am, after they shouted at me to check out at 10am, even though booking.com showed that I could check out at 10:30am. I hate it when hostels don’t even know what they put on their own websites. Get with the program! So I checked out at 10:30am, like I was supposed to and then went out to see some of the city.

I checked out the Museum of Modern Art, which was really small, only three exhibits on, but it was free to get into today so that was good. After the museum I wanted to find the picture that Jacquelien sent me for our game, and this time it was a fountain I was looking for. I had been around to six different parks with eight fountains, but none of them was the one that I was supposed to find. I asked the guy at the museum and he thought he knew it, so he sent me the east side of town where I hadn’t been yet. It was a nice twenty minute walk over to Plaza Pedro Del Castillo and found the fountain I was looking for! The water wasn’t working in the fountain, but it was still the place I was supposed to find, so I was pretty happy. It was a pretty area too, so it was nice to take a walk in a place I probably wouldn’t have found without the help of Jacquelien.

I went back tot he hostel to charge up my stuff and upload some blogs while I waited for my friend Gino to get in touch. I hadn’t ween him since we did the Death Road in La Paz together, so it’s been about six weeks, but he was coming into Mendoza today so we had some time to get together for dinner. It was cool to meet up with him and catch up on the last couple of months of travels. We grabbed dinner on the main walking street of Sarmiento and then I had to head to the bus terminal.

I found my Andesmar bus and got on for our 8:45pm departure time. I’m on the bus now, and sitting here waiting for them to change a flat tire. It’s 11pm, and we’ve been here for over an hour just trying to get the tire off the bus. I’m hoping they can get this sorted soon so we can get moving. This is pretty annoying just sitting here!
