Moving to the islands
Kamala, Thailand, Asia
I got up this morning at about 8am and got to watch the Sox playing the Royals. Lynne and I packed up our backpacks and grabbed some breakfast downstairs before getting a taxi at 10:30am. We got to the airport within about ten minutes and it was one of the fastest check-ins I’ve ever been through. There was no wait at all, and we were checked in with almost two hours to wait before we took off. We sat in Burger King and stole their wifi for a few minutes, and Lynne had the best laughing fit I’ve seen in years! She was spitting out her iced coffee all over her magazine and everything. I don’t even remember what we were laughing about, but we managed to have those kinds of laughing fits every once in a while. It’s good times.
We breezed through security without as much as a hiccup, and then we were the first ones to board the plane, again, without having to wait in a queue. It was a pretty big plane for such a short flight, but it wasn’t nearly full. We had an Airbus A300 (2-4-2) and we were served a lunch meal and everything without an extra charge. I was very impressed, and Lynne was too until we hit a bit of turbulence. It’s not the worst I’ve been through, but apparently she is quite a nervous flier now, so that didn’t go too well.
We landed safely in Phuket at about 2:30pm and hopped in a taxi to go to our resort. It took about 35 minutes to get there, but it was worth the wait. This place is awesome! We have a deluxe twin room, with a balcony that we can see the ocean from and the main part of the hotel is beautiful. It has three infinity pools, two restaurants two bars and incredible views of the Andaman Sea. We sat at the main bar for happy hour and took in the sunset for a while, and then went downstairs to the Blue Sea restaurant for dinner. I had some awesome satay (chicken, pork and beef) and now we’re back in the room relaxing. We’ve watched a few episodes of Modern Family on my laptop and now we’re going to hit the hay. I’m really looking forward to this week in Phuket. We have nothing to do, and I finally don’t have to live out of my backpack for a few days!!
