Hanging out at Barra da Lagoa
Barra da Lagoa, Brazil, South America
I had an awesome night’s sleep last night. It was a combination of being exhausted after that bus ride, a really firm mattress, excellent black-out blinds, and a perfectly cooled room. I actually slept until about 9am, and then chilled for a bit reading ESPN and listening to WEEI radio. The biggest story in the world right now is Deflate-gate with the Patriots. It’s absolutely crap, but because it’s the week before the Super Bowl, no one wants to talk about anything else.
At about noon I headed out and walked down to the Barra da Lagoa beach and met Graeme and Hillary there. The beach is pretty long, and was quite busy considering it is a Monday, but I guess all the kids are on summer holiday down here, so that makes sense. We hung out on the beach for a few hours and then I was starving so I went to a beach bar and grabbed a burger and a beer. After eating I couldn’t really take any more sun or heat, so I headed back to the hotel to make good use of the A/C.
I went back to the same restaurant as last night for dinner, and tried a different dish, and a new beer. Everything was excellent again, and still very peaceful right on the lake. It was a really beautiful night, and the weather after the sun goes down here is perfect. It cools down to about 23*C (78*F), the humidity disappears, and it’s just ideal. I had a nice walk back to the hotel and now I’m just relaxing before heading to bed for another great night’s sleep, hopefully!
