Unproductive day in Lima

Lima, Peru, South America

I had a very unproductive day today. I was planning on going to the US Embassy to report my US passport as stolen, but that didn’t happen. I got in touch with the embassy to find out what office I had to visit, and they told me that I didn’t even need to come in. I could just report the theft by email. So I sent an email, and then was told that I can’t cancel my passport by email, I can only cancel it by getting a new one. This was no good because I don’t want a new one now. I don’t really want to take the risk of it getting lost or stolen again in the next six months before I need it, so I’m just going to wait.

I went out for a bit to check out the city center near me, and there are some nicer parts of Lima than I had been told. My hotel is near some really nice shopping centers and some beautiful old buildings. I wasn’t up for doing much in the city on my own tonight, so I got some traditional Peruvian food, and watched the Thursday night football game. It wasn’t a very good game, but football is football, so I was pretty happy anyway.
