Cold and rainy day in Sarajevo

Cold and rainy day in Sarajevo

Belgrade, Serbia, Europe Today was pretty much a wasted day. It was cold and rainy in Sarajevo, and there wasn’t much I wanted to do in the city in the rain. I found out about a shuttle that I could get to Belgrade that wasn’t much more expensive than the regular bus, and they would pick me up and drop me off at the hostels I was staying at. To me, this was a much better option than trudging through…

Seige Tour of Sarajevo

Seige Tour of Sarajevo

Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Europe I had a pretty poor night’s sleep at the hostel. The bed was comfortable enough, but the Indian guy was snoring really loudly, and another guy in the room kept farting all night long. It was a little ridiculous. The first time I thought it was funny, but then it became just annoying. I stayed in bed a little longer than I had expected, but it was fine because I didn’t really have anything planned…

Mostar and Sarajevo

Mostar and Sarajevo

Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Europe Today started out with a nice breakfast at Majda’s of French toast. It wasn’t traditional French toast that I’m used to in the US, but it was more savory. It was served with a few different toppings that you could spread on top. There was a marmalade made from dates, a salsa made from peppers and onions, and greek yoghurt. It was a very interesting mix, but it was tasty. I hung around at the…

Montenegro to Bosnia & Herzegovina

Montenegro to Bosnia & Herzegovina

Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Europe I had a great night sleep last night and woke up at 7am ready to go. I had a whole plan to go to Budva and Sveti Stefan today and then go to Bosnia tomorrow. Well, the weather disagreed with my plan a lot and it was absolutely pissing it down when I woke up. I had a look at the forecast and it’s going to be raining here for the next four days. If…

Kotor is beautiful!

Kotor is beautiful!

Kotor, Montenegro, Europe I woke up after a few hours of on and off sleep and felt a little bit better. I’ve decided that I’m definitely going to stay tonight here, and might also stay tomorrow night too. I am not actually staying in Kotor, I’m in another little village called Prcanj. It is only 4 kilometers (2.5 miles) from the old city of Kotor. I walked to the old city this morning so I could check out the view…

Macedonia to Kosovo to Montenegro

Macedonia to Kosovo to Montenegro

Kotor, Montenegro, Europe Well this has been the longest day of travel I can remember on this trip, but I am currently writing this blog at 7:34am as I have just reached my destination. Yesterday started out with leaving my things at Pansion Bianco and going for breakfast at the Hotel Anja restaurant again. It was raining again so there was no chance for me to go up the cable car to the big cross on the mountain. It was…

Great day in Skopje

Great day in Skopje

Skopje, Macedonia, Europe I had a really nice day in Skopje. It was raining first thing this morning, but I didn’t let that deter me. I left Pansion Bianco and went to their sister hotel in the city center to have breakfast. It was probably the most complete breakfast I’ve had in a month. It was a cheese omelet (with cheddar and feta), bread, salad, and juice. I decided to first explore the Turkish part of the city and just…

Bye Bye Bulgaria!

Bye Bye Bulgaria!

Skopje, Macedonia, Europe Today got off to a poor start, but ended up being pretty nice. I didn’t get a great night sleep at the hostel and woke up around 6:30am. I downloaded UFC 172 that was on last night and got to watch Jon Jones defend his light heavyweight title again. I wanted to check out of the hostel so I could leave my bags and go walk around the city a little bit, but by 9:30am there were…

Sightseeing in Sofia

Sightseeing in Sofia

Sofia, Bulgaria, Europe Today was a very nice day in Sofia, helped by two very nice Dutch ladies. I started out by packing up my stuff and getting the heck out of Guest Rooms Kom. It was not a very nice place to stay, and I found a proper hostel for tonight, so I moved down there. I had arranged to meet up with Jacquelien and her mom Dineke after dropping my stuff off at the hostel. I got to…

On to Bulgaria

On to Bulgaria

Sofia, Bulgaria, Europe I got up this morning and went out to explore Thessaloniki for a few hours. I found out that there were two buses from Thessaloniki up to Sofia, and I’d be better off getting the early one. So I walked around the city for a few hours, checked out the Byzantine Museum and the statue of Alexander the Great, and then made my way to the bus terminal. I got my ticket for the 2:30pm bus to…
