Anniversary at the Bvlgari
We woke up this morning and took our time enjoying the beautiful Ritz-Carlton Tokyo. Around 10am the girls left for a skincare appointment, since Japan is famous for its beauty treatments and products. They were gone for about three hours, so I went out to do a little grocery shopping and then spent the rest of the morning relaxing in the room until they got back around 2pm.
We said goodbye to Bart and Ale, checked out of the Ritz, and took a taxi to the Bvlgari Hotel. From the moment we arrived, it was clear this was going to be something special. The Bvlgari is easily one of the most impressive hotels I’ve ever seen. It’s hard to compare it directly with somewhere like the St. Regis Bora Bora because the styles are completely different, but those two are now tied at the top of my list for the nicest hotels in the world.
When we stepped out of the taxi, we were greeted by several staff members who immediately took our bags to be delivered to the room. We were then escorted up to the 40th floor lobby, where we met our butler, Andres, who happens to be from Bogotá. He walked us through the check-in process while giving us a tour of the hotel and then brought us up to our room on the 44th floor.
Our bags were already placed neatly in the closets, and Andres offered to have the team unpack them for us. Since we were leaving the next morning and didn’t plan to fully unpack, we politely declined, but the level of service was incredible.
The room itself was stunning, but the real showstopper was the view. Floor-to-ceiling windows stretched across the entire room, and as soon as we walked in, the blinds opened automatically to reveal the Tokyo skyline. It was one of those moments you don’t forget.
After check-in, we went out to do a bit of last-minute shopping. We picked up some graphic tees from Uniqlo as gifts and stopped by Muji for a few small items. I took Vivi to Pandora, hoping to get her a charm for her bracelet to remember this trip, but she didn’t see any Japanese-themed ones she loved, so we decided to wait until she finds one that feels perfect.
Back at the hotel, we visited the spa and had the pool and jacuzzi completely to ourselves. We relaxed there for about an hour before heading upstairs to get ready for dinner. The staff at the pool helped us book a table in The Bvlgari Bar at 9pm.
The bar, located on the 45th floor, was lively and elegant. We got a great table along the wall overlooking the entire bar. The service was impeccable, and many of the staff were Italian, including our waitress, who was from a small town outside Rome. The restaurant manager and the head of butler services also came by to wish us a happy anniversary, which was a really nice touch.
Dinner was fantastic. I had a wagyu beef burger, and Vivi ordered a seafood pasta dish, both perfectly cooked. They brought us a small dessert to celebrate our anniversary, but we already had another waiting in the room—a rich chocolate mousse cake that had been placed there during check-in.
We enjoyed the cake in the dark with the city lights of Tokyo spread out below us, a perfect ending to both our trip and our anniversary. Massive thanks to Vivi for organizing such an unforgettable stay at the Bvlgari. I’m not sure if we’ll ever have the chance to stay in another one, but if not, this first experience was absolute perfection and one we’ll always remember.
