Walking tour of Krakow

Walking tour of Krakow

Krakow, Poland, Europe I got up this morning and headed out for the walking tour of the old town. There was a big group of 44 people that showed up for the tour, so luckily they split us into two groups. Our tour guide Chris was very good and had a good mixture of facts and jokes. It’s a good way to play a group like this, a little bit for everyone. We got a beautiful day for the walking…

Horrible morning, then leaving Warsaw

Horrible morning, then leaving Warsaw

Krakow, Poland, Europe Today had an absolutely horrible start. As I expected, I could hardly sleep last night because every time anyone in the dorm moved, the beds made a horrific noise that woke us all up. It was just ridiculous. So I was awake at 7:30am and got all my stuff ready to go. The signs in the hostel said that checkout was from 9am so I hung around until then to try and checkout and leave my bags…

KGB Museum and then to Warsaw

KGB Museum and then to Warsaw

Warsaw, Poland, Europe Today started out by packing up my stuff and bringing it to the bus station. I didn’t want to have to go back to my hostel so leaving the bags in a locker made the most sense. I walked from there around the old town to get to the KGB museum. It had been recommended to me by a friend as something that I should see. The museum was one of those powerful kind of places that…

Vilnius walking tour

Vilnius walking tour

Vilnius, Lithuania, Europe I got to explore a little more of Vilnius today, and it was alright. It’s not my favorite of the Baltic cities, but it was still nice. I met Hannah for the 12pm start of the tour and it was pretty good. It was a pretty small group, around ten people. We met a Singaporean girl named Shameera and hung out with her for the rest of the day. This tour was a little different from the…

Riga to Vilnius

Riga to Vilnius

Vilnius, Lithuania, Europe I moved on to another city today, and it looks pretty similar to the last couple I’ve been to. Hannah and I got a bus from Riga to Vilnius this morning at 8:30am and got in at about 12:30pm. It was a pretty nice ride through the countryside, and I had a couple of older American guys to talk to. They are travelling around for a few weeks, but it seems like they’ve been absolutely everywhere in…

Walking tour of Riga

Walking tour of Riga

Riga, Latvia, Europe Today was a really nice day in Riga. It was a horrible night sleep at the hostel, so I was up really early this morning. Last night was really hot, with no air conditioning in the room, and we left the window open to try and get some cool air in, but there was no air movement in the room, and a lot of noise from the street coming in. My pillow was also the worst thing…

Tallinn to Riga

Tallinn to Riga

Riga, Latvia, Europe Today was a good day of travelling. I left United Hostel at about 9am and got on my bus for Riga at 10am. It was a really nice 4.5 hour drive with Lux Simple Express. It was a nice new bus with A/C, power ports on each seat, and wifi on board. Unfortunately, I didn’t have wifi at the back of the bus, but it still went by pretty quickly. This was the first border crossing I’ve…

Excellent day in Tallinn

Excellent day in Tallinn

Tallinn, Estonia, Europe Today was a really nice day in Tallinn. The first thing I had to do this morning was get all my stuff out of Tallinn Backpackers and move over to United Backpackers. I would have been happy to stay another night at the original hostel, but they were completely booked for tonight, so I had to find an alternative. It turns out United Backpackers is a MUCH nicer hostel than Tallinn Backpackers. It’s a brand new place,…

Leaving Russia, Entering Estonia

Leaving Russia, Entering Estonia

Tallinn, Estonia, Europe Today was mostly just a travel day. I left St. Petersburg this morning and hopped on a really nice bus to go to Tallinn, Estonia. The bus had tv’s for each seat, and a coffee machine on board. I was impressed for €20, it was a nice way to travel. The only problem was that this was the first kind of non-stop bus I’ve taken. Since there was a bathroom on the bus, we never had to…

Peterhof and Savior on Spilled Blood

Peterhof and Savior on Spilled Blood

St. Petersburg, Russia, Asia Today was a great day of sightseeing! The started out with breakfast at Zoom Cafe with the aussies (Ben and Sam). We were trying to catch the train at 11:07am to Peterhof, but we showed up at the train station to find out that the schedule online is wrong and the next train was actually leaving at 1pm. We checked out the busses and there was one leaving in about two minutes going to Peterhof so…
