Quiet blog day

Quiet blog day

Salvador, Brazil, South America

I did almost nothing today except work on my blog. I went down to Subway for lunch, but every day I walk by the favela I get increasing more uncomfortable. This is the opposite of how I usually feel in a city. I’m usually a bit more uncomfortable when I first get there, but then realize pretty quickly that it’s not nearly as bad as I had initially thought. This is the opposite. Based on what I saw on AirBnB and the reviews there, I expected a much nicer area, but it’s becoming clearer and clearer that this is not a nice place to be around. I take nothing with me when I go out. No phone. No camera. No watch. No wallet. Just a little cash, and some crossed fingers in the hopes that I won’t get mugged or shot walking by. Not the best feeling when you’re traveling a new city that you want to check out. Tomorrow I’m going to meet Rafael in the center, but I don’t think I’m going to take my camera with me for that either. Just not worth the hassle.
