Travel day to Bratislava

Travel day to Bratislava

Bratislava, Slovakia, Europe

Today was pretty much just a travel day. I got the Polskibus from Krakow at 10:30am to another Polish city called Katowice. I had about an hour and a half to wait so I grabbed some lunch at the bus station and then hopped on my next bus to Bratislava. It was about a five and a half hour ride and it was pretty nice. The scenery once we got into Slovakia was really nice. There were a lot of farms, a few castles, and a couple of mountains. It was raining on and off for the whole ride, but luckily since I’ve arrived in Bratislava, it hasn’t rained again.

I had a hard time finding my hostel because it is disguised as student accommodation. There were no signs for the name of the hostel I booked, so I wandered around confused-looking for a few minutes before I figured it out. It’s nice to have a single room for the night, but unfortunately it used to be a smoking room so it’s still got that funky smell. Not ideal.

I went out to grab something to eat and went to a place called Slovak Pub. It is exactly what it says on the tin. I tried a traditional Slovak meal of Kofola (Slovakian cola) and friend dumplings filled with meat and sour cream. It was certainly not a healthy meal, but it was pretty tasty. I didn’t see much more of the city, but I’m taking a walking tour in the morning, so I should be able to see it all then.
