Summer Palace on my last day in Beijing

Summer Palace on my last day in Beijing

Beijing, China, Asia

Today was my last full day in Beijing, and in Asia. I figured I should get out and see one more sight before going back so I visited the Summer Palace. It’s about 45 minutes outside of the city by metro, but pretty easy to find. I’ve gotten the knack of travelling around these cities now, so finding something this big was no problem.

The Palace really is huge! It’s full of gardens and parks, sprinkled with some palaces and temples. It was really nice to walk around in for a while, and it didn’t hurt having such great weather. I spent a couple hours wandering around aimlessly (only because they don’t give you a map when you go in), and got some pretty great views of the city over a huge lake. It was a really nice spot and I’m glad I didn’t miss it.

After checking out the Palace I headed back into town to find the Hard Rock Cafe. I wasn’t about to miss the last HRC before my trip finishes! It is by far the worst location for a Hard Rock that I’ve ever seen, but it was pretty nice inside. I had the same chicken fajitas I always have and they were just as good as usual. I haven’t appreciated a consistently good meal like that in a long time. I love Chinese food in America and in the UK, but I do not like Chinese food in China. Bleh!

I’m back at the hostel now and just chilling here for the night. I have to get all my stuff packed up and ready to go for the morning. I fly out tomorrow and that will be the end of my trip. I can’t believe it!
