Roadtrip to the Mornington Peninsula

Melbourne, Australia, Australia

I had a great day out today with my friend Carla. I met her at her house at about 10:30am and we hit the road. Our first destination was Brighton which is very popular for its beach boxes that are all painted in extremely bright colors. They are owned by really rich people who live in Brighton, and as far as we could see, they just keep their beach crap in them. The are completely non-essential, but these people have money to burn so they decided to buy one of these boxes. We hung around the beach for maybe a half hour picking out our favorite boxes and trying not to get in the model’s photoshoot that was happening on the beach.

We moved on from Brighton further down the Mornington Peninsula to Arthur’s Seat. This is a lookout over the peninsula and you can see Port Phillip Bay on one side and the ocean on the other. It was pretty impressive. We took a walk down some of the footpaths to get some different views before moving on for lunch.

We made our way to Sorrento to get some lunch, as both of us were starving at this point! Carla had been to a good fish and chips place before so we decided to try that. Unfortunately both of us got some pretty bad fish (mine was chewy, so that’s weird), but the chips were awesome! We ate on a picnic table overlooking the bay and marina, it was a beautiful setting. We were really lucky to get such perfect weather as well, 16*C and sunny, doesn’t get better than that!

After lunch we went to a summer holiday town called Rosebud, which is absolutely dead in the winter time. We stopped there for a game of mini golf, which we both found out was not our forte! In fact we were both awful, but it was a really good laugh. The only bad thing was that the round went by so quickly, but it was really fun while it lasted.

We headed back to Melbourne after the mini golf and got back into town at about 6pm. It was a really good day out and I’m glad I got to see more of Victoria before I head off for Asia. Just two weeks from Monday and I’m off!
