Petronas Towers at night

Petronas Towers at night

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Asia

Today has been a pretty relaxed day in KL. Jesse and I went to the largest electronics mall in Malaysia, and it was ridiculous. It was seven stories of nothing but phones, cameras, computers and gadgets. It would have been heaven to me if there weren’t so many people! I don’t know if it’s because it was Sunday afternoon, or if it just always like that, but it was mentally busy. We both found a couple of things we were looking for and got pretty good deals on everything. I was looking for a new bumper for my iphone and they normally go for at least $40 from Apple. I found one that was a knockoff for $3, brilliant!

We found a little whole in the wall place for linner (lunch/dinner) and had some pretty decent Indian and Chinese food. The best thing was the price tag, $7 for both of our meals and drinks, I just can’t get over how cheap it is here!

We decided that it would be a good night to check out the Petronas Towers so we walked in that direction and got there just before sunset. It really is an impressive structure, and it’s more impressive when you see that there aren’t many other big buildings near it. When you’re driving or walking into the city it’s dead easy to pick out the towers over everything else. There is a massive park just behind the buildings with fountains and pools and gardens. It was a good place to get some pictures, but we went to the other side of the buildings to take some night shots.

We found a perfect place to set up camp for about a half hour and just snapped away. After we got our fill of night shots we headed back toward our hostel and stopped along the way to get some shots of the KL Tower. It is supposed to be a great view from up there and you get a few other experiences along with it, so I’m hoping to see that in the next couple of days.

We are back at the hostel now and we met a couple of English girls who are travelling around and leaving here tomorrow. Jesse has a bottle of Thai “whisky” so we’re trying to get rid of that before he has to leave. It’s been a great day in the city today and I have a feeling it’s going to be a late night…
