Leaving Quito for quiet Banos

Leaving Quito for quiet Banos

Banos, Ecuador, South America

I left Quito this morning at about 10am and got a taxi to the southern bus terminal, Quitumbe. From there I found a bus that was going to Banos in about ten minutes, so I hopped on. This bus was a bit nicer than the one I got to Quito, but still not as nice as the Colombian busses. It was about 3.5 hours to get to Banos, and it was a really nice ride through the mountains and past a couple of volcanoes. It’s beautiful down here.

The town of Banos is really small, and really quiet. I love that. I got into the town and found Hostel Nomada right away and dropped off my bags. It was about 2:30pm and I hadn’t had anything to eat yet, so I went out to find a place for lunch. I had an excellent lunch of chicken, rice, and plantains. It was so tasty. I also met a nice Austrian girl name Katharina at lunch, and we’ve decided that we’re going to go cycling down to some waterfalls tomorrow. We both only have one full day in Banos, and that is the number one thing to do here.

I walked around the town for a little bit after lunch and then came back to chill at the hostel. There’s not much to do in the town, so after 5pm, it’s pretty quiet. I went out to get a bite to eat for dinner at about 8pm, and almost everything was closed. It’s a really quiet town. It’ll be nice to rent a bike and get out on the road tomorrow though. I’m looking forward to that!
