KGB Museum and then to Warsaw

Warsaw, Poland, Europe

Today started out by packing up my stuff and bringing it to the bus station. I didn’t want to have to go back to my hostel so leaving the bags in a locker made the most sense. I walked from there around the old town to get to the KGB museum. It had been recommended to me by a friend as something that I should see.

The museum was one of those powerful kind of places that wasn’t a fun place to go at all, but it was interesting. The prison and execution chambers in the basement were the most interesting and horrible things I saw. I could only walk around it for about 45 minutes and then I had to go. It was just too depressing for me today.

I walked back to the bus station and hopped on my Simple Express bus to Warsaw. This was probably the nicest bus I’ve had so far. I had two seats to myself, a tv with a bunch of movies, and wifi! I can’t exactly say that the 8.5 hours flew by, but it could have been a lot worse.

I got to Warsaw around 10:30pm and had just a 20 minute walk to my hostel. It was easy enough to find, but unfortunately it’s not great. I’m sitting on my bed now (a top bunk) and it is by far the loudest bed frame I have ever been on. Every centimeter you move causes a racket. I hate it. I can already see it’s going to make for an awful sleep. But tomorrow I’ll get to check out some of Warsaw and meet up with a couple of friends for lunch, so that’ll be good.
