Friday night at Armando’s

Friday night at Armando’s

Bogota, Colombia, South America

Today was fairly quiet, but was still really nice. I hung out at the hostel this morning, and then walked over to Melissa’s office to meet her for lunch. On Friday Melissa normally goes out to lunch with some workmates, so we went out to El Corral with everyone. I’m still impressed at how good the burgers are there, considering they’re just a Colombian version of Burger King, but way better.

On my way back after lunch, I stopped at a couple of malls on the way that are filled with just technology stores. It was like heaven to me! The only bad thing was that I didn’t need to buy anything. They had absolutely everything you could ever want when it comes to computers or tablets or whatever. It was pretty cool to see. I’ve not seen anything like that since I left China.

Melissa picked me up from the hostel after she finished work and we went back to her house for dinner. From there we got a taxi down to 85th street and met Vanessa and JC. We were going to meet at a bar that Melissa liked, but we got there to find out that it was now closed down. Luckily for us this street is full of bars so we went to another one that she likes called Armando’s. It was a strange setup where the first floor was a dance club, and the fourth floor was a kind of chill bar. The floors in between are not used by the bar.

We started out at the top floor and the four of us chilled out while the place got busier and busier. They kept turning the music up loader and louder until eventually we decided just to go downstairs to the club since we couldn’t really have a conversation anyway. We got down there and it seemed like a pretty cool club with Latin music, but it was just totally not my scene. Melissa and Vanessa met another one of their cousins at the club, so I decided to leave them all to it and get a taxi back to the hostel. It was about 11:30pm, and I just knew I wouldn’t want to be dancing all night, so I figured it was best to let the girls have a fun night out without me bringing them down.

I’m back at the hostel now and trying to work out just where I’m going and what I’m doing when I finally leave here on the 14th. I know I’m flying to Asuncion, but I don’t have any plan for when I get there. I’m pretty tired already though, so I think I’m just going to call it a night and get some rest. I’m supposed to be playing tennis tomorrow morning with all the Jaramillo ladies, but we’ll have to wait and see how they’re feeling after their night out…
