Cuban visa day!

Cuban visa day!

Madrid, Spain, Europe

Today was quite a relaxed day in Madrid. Vivi got up and left for work at 6:15am, and I hardly heard her at all. It was perfect because I was able to go back to sleep and not get up until 9am. That was a good rest. I finally got up, got ready and headed out to find the Cuban embassy. I knew I had to get a visa for Cuba, and I wasn’t sure how long it would take so I wanted to make sure I got a quick start. I fly out a week from tomorrow, so I didn’t want to leave it too late just in case it took a week like the Russian one.

I got the metro near to the embassy and walked up the road. I used the very very little spanish I have obtained to tell the man at reception that I needed a visa and he directed me down the road by a couple of miles. It turns out you don’t get a tourist visa at the embassy, but at a cuban travel agency. I found Viajes Cuba and getting the visa could not have been any easier. I read online that I was going to need to fill out an application and show proof of my flights into and out of Cuba. Not true. I had to give the girl my passport (UK of course) and €25, and that was it. After ten minutes, I walked out of the office with a Cuban visa and some very good advice on where to go when I get there.

I made my way back to the city center by metro and hung out at Vivi’s place until she finished work. We hung out at the apartment and thought about going out for dinner, but Vivi was pretty tired and stressed out, so we decided to just stay in. I went out and got a pizza from Domino’s and we ate at the apartment. It was a really nice relaxing day. I’m certainly not going to complain!
