AFC Divisional game; Andres DC at night

I got up this morning after a great night’s sleep, and was impressed to hear that Melissa was still coming to pick me up to go play tennis. I had thought that she would be too hungover, or at least too tired to play, so that was a nice surprise. It ended up being just Melissa and I playing as the other ladies were too tired. It was really good to get back out on the court and hit the ball around. It’s been way too long. And the fact that I got play on clay courts was even cooler.

We hung out at Melissa’s house for the rest of the day until about 3pm and it was time to head to Hooters! Today was the biggest game of the season for the Patriots, and we found out that Hooters was going to play the game, so Melissa agreed to come along and learn a little bit about American Football.

We got there about a half hour before kickoff and got a good seat in front of a couple of tv’s, and even got the management to agree to put the audio on for us. As a bonus, they put it on in English! With this being the divisional playoffs against the Ravens, there were not too many fans at the restaurant, but there were a few. There was one guy with a Green Bay Packers jersey on who was waiting for the next game to start, and a few people with Tom Brady jerseys on. I didn’t see any Ravens jerseys, but that’s no surprise. Who likes the Ravens??

This ended up being one of the most exciting games I have ever seen. It was incredible! The Patriots were down 14-0, and came back to tie it. Then they went down 28-14, and came back again to win it 35-31. It came down to a last minute hail Mary pass by Joe Flacco that luckily hit the ground to win the game for us. Melissa could not have picked a more exciting game to watch for her first game, and we got the perfect result as well.

After the game we headed back to Melissa’s house to get ready for our night out at Andres DC. This is the place I had come for dinner with Luz Mery back in July, but we had left before all the partying started. This place is crazy at night. It’s absolutely massive, and all of the dining areas from during the day turn into dance floors at night. There were hundreds and hundreds of people dancing anywhere they could find space.

We went with Vanessa, Luz Mery, two aunts (Leo and Flores), JC, and Paola. They had gotten a table when they first arrived, so we had a place to chill and get our drinks delivered to, so that was good. I spent most of the night at the table, since I’m not much of a dancer, but of course Melissa dragged me out on the dance floor a few times. The good thing was that she had a really good time with her sister and cousins.

We got a service to bring us home where you pay a guy at the club to drive you home in your own car. This seems like a great idea, even though I have no idea how the guy got home after we got to Melissa’s house. It’s certainly a much better idea than having to leave your car at the club and get a taxi, or than driving drunk. Neither one of those is a good idea. By the time we got a taxi back to my hostel it was almost 5am, and we’re supposed to play tennis tomorrow morning. We’ll see how that goes…
